A Joomla Reinterpretation

Mobilization For Animals had hit the wall with their static HTML site.  It was...well, static.  No movement, no action - no email registration, no site registration, no e-commerce.  And they wanted to do a Cruelty-Free Directory.

This re-interpretation preserved the look and feel that they had created, but added all of the functionality they had requested.

Here is the list of functionalities added:

  • Core functions of Joomla, including Author/Editor/Publisher capability, to enable team creation of the site using only a web browser
  • Cruelty Free Directory
  • Events Calendar
  • Ability to Sell Posters/Postcards, etc.
  • Online newsletter/mailing list function with archive of sent newsletters
  • Integration of current MFA graphics into Joomla template

 

SO many benefits...with no expense for either the Content Management System (Joomla) or any web design software.

-MFA will be able to easily recreate their left navigation

into the Main Menu above, and cut/paste the old static

HTML into Joomle content items.

-All colors are easily customized with no editing of HTML

-Note new dynamic items, Shop, Directory, and Calendar

 

This is a mid-stage view of the project.  MFA wanted expertise, but preferred to provide some of the labor in transferring the existing content in order to keep costs down.  This has the dual benefit to the organization of enabling the staff to have easy initial success, making the transition to Joomla much smoother.

 

 
A Joomla Makeover

Here is a website makeover we did recently using Joomla.

The client was the Vegetarian Society of Richmond, Virginia .

The President's team wanted more control over the site, and to not have to ask the webmaster for every little change.

They also liked the idea that multiple people could submit content to the site, subject to approval.

  • The color scheme was too dark
 
  • So we chose a more colorful template from hundreds
  • There was no interactivity
 
  • Now, members can login, submit articles or events, and see profiles of other members.
  • The staff didn't have web design software
 
  • Joomla includes a web based editor that's instantly familiar, and available to anyone with a web browser.
